On Getting Better (An Introduction)

All good blogs need an introduction. Presumably for website archaeologists in the far-flung future who come across this digital record. They’ll excavate a centuries old PC and dig deep down into the cache to find record of this blog.

They deserve some context, right? Otherwise, they’ll be perplexed as to the meaning of it all and ascribe some flightiness to all of humanity in the 21st century because I couldn’t bother to properly frame this blog.

So, I’m doing this for all of mankind, really. Because I don’t want some well-heeled university type in the year 2517 to roll their eyes at those airheads that lived at the dawn of the millennium.

Anyway, . . .

I fancy myself a struggling creative. Fancy despite the fact that I haven’t created much of anything lately.

It’s not that I can’t. It’s most probably just because I haven’t.

Hoping to change that, and hoping to jump start my creativity, I’m starting a blog to track my journey. I’m hoping to create more – to write more; to draw more; and, to live a little more broadly and creatively.

To that end, I’ll try to post regular blog entries and to post what I’m creating. I’m hoping to produce work in volume and to track my progress. The more I do, the greater the chance I can improve and have the confidence to create more.

My taste is killer, as told to me by my friend Ira Glass (well not to me personally – I’ve never actually spoken with Ira Glass). And, I know there’s a chance I can get better.

If I keep trying, hopefully, I’ll be getting better.
